What’s going on with Andrade Arts?
April 23rd, 2008 Posted in News, XtrasSo, as some of might have seen, I posted a little blurb the other day saying this:
With a heavy heart and due to recent circumstances Andrade Arts will no longer be selling it’s Xtras. There will be no Mac Intel version. Due to the very high bandwidth, all shockwave safe versions of all Xtras have removed from the andradearts.com server.
I stared at the confirm dialog box button to upload that page for almost two hours before I finally clicked it. Ever since that moment I’ve been having doubts. Combine that with the emails I’ve received asking why I stopped, the offers to purchase the software, veteran Director developers wishing me luck and some schmuck hosting the Shockwave safe versions without permission, I’ve decided that this is not the time to stop.
A good friend suggested that I keep it up for a little while longer. His opinion means a lot to me and letting something go that I’ve been doing for ten years is hard. To hard…

Hi Mark,
I missed your previous blog posting, but it’s great to hear that you’re continuing to develop your excellent Xtras!

You should say ‘thank you’ to all those “schmucks”.
They’re paying for bandwidth and you get the bucks for xtra registrations.
be safe.

No I shouldn’t and from what I hear it’s just one person. Hosting someone else’s work without permission from the author and offering it up to anyone else is illegal.
Now, with the new versions of the Shockwave Safe Xtras about to be released it’ll cause confusion in the client base and might even break things.
It’ll be more clear what I mean by that in the near future when I release the first Shockwave Safe version of on of my Xtras.

Hi Mark,
As a seasoned user of your Xtras and a Director developer of 15 years this is excellent news. In particular, I use the eCommerce and Enhancer Xtras. As we have been corresponding for a few years you know me, but to anyone else out there Mark has given good support and some of his Xtras have no equivalent elsewhere.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers Simon Buckingham
